Lotus Traveler on symbian and certificate store

We managed to install lotus traveler 8.5 and it is working great with Nokia E71.

We also tested authentication with client certificates. I exported certificate from user.is and imported it to Nokia E71 phone.

It is “working” as long certificate is in Personal certificate store. If you move certificate to Phone store, traveler application could not see it anymore.

Problem with certificate in Personal certificate store is that you have to enter your certificate store PIN every time you send something to the server (for example delete an e-mail). You can’t configure E71 to not use PIN for Personal certificate store. On the other hand there is no PIN in Phone store.

Is there any workaround ? Browser on E71, can use certificates in both stores.

Are you using a self-signed certificate?

I suggest you try the following:

  1. Remove the certificate from the Personal/Phone stores.

  2. Open Web browser to your server using https. You should receive a message about a non-trusted certificate, with options to allow this session, or always.

  3. Select allows allow or allow permanently.

  4. This puts the certificate into the Trusted sites certificate store.

  5. Use Traveler

After doing this, I have used Traveler successfully without receiving any notifications to enter a PIN when Traveler tries to synchronize.
