I just setup my iPhone on Notes Traveler and I am unable to recieve emails. The Notes account sets up ok but when I go into the inbox I get “Cannot Get Mail, The Connection to the server failed”. I can send email and do look ups to the address book. On the server its shows me “Connected” with ActiveSync and as far as security No policy with Allow access. I am the only user on the server with this issue. Any help would be great, thanks.

Check the log.nsf and see for “Notes Traveler: WARNING/SEVERE”, this will tell you what the server is doing when you are trying to retrive the mails… If it says Failed to connect to the database then issue could be the traveler server is unable to connect to the home mail server of the user… Try getting the exact error message which can guide towards resolution…

I too was getting that error message… on an older iPod Touch. I originally configured the iPod using the Apple profile. I then deleted the profile and configured the device manually (settings, mail contact and calendar, add account, Exchange, etc). The error message no longer appears and everything works fine.

Also, now with 8.5.3.X, admins can set up a an approval process for devices. Someone may see that error message (or a similar one) if the administrator has not yet approved the device you are trying to activate. Just a thought.

I try to open from the ipad, it said
“Cannot Get Mail: the connection to the server failed”
I already tried to install and reset the new profile on the device. But it back to to the error again. I also try to follow this web suggesstion, but also didn’t work

Try rebooting the Apple by holding the home and power buttons until you see the silver Apple. This sounds like connectivity from the device. If that doesn’t fix the issue (which would be a device issue), then you need to open a PMR and collect HTTP thread logs.

I found the solution to my error message and not being able to receive emails. Had to perform a Dump command on myself and then a Reset command in the Domino Console of the Traveler server. The commands can be found on the below website.

I have a similar problem, On my work they have installed Traveler and my co workers have no problems receiving mail – but I can’t get any mail I my in box on the Iphone (I can see the sent mail and incoming mail on other folder but not the IN box. Calendar and contacts is ok. It is also ok on my notes client on pc, and ok on the web mail – on these I can receive and read mail. But not on the Iphone.
Please help.
