I have one big challenge now for Lotus Noted database Size limit which is 64 GB now but i want to increase my business and not move from lotus notes also so what are the best solution if i increase company business and keep lotus notes van any one have any idea then let me know , so that we will implement this in my company
You are correct, 64 gig is a hard limit and things get nasty when the database reaches this size.
I was never a proponent of Archiving, but that is of course one option. The user can archive locally, to a network share, or Archiving can be set up and scheduled to run on the server.
Another option is to ensure users clean up old/unneeded mail, every time i ever get into a discussion (argument) with a user that ‘they need everything in their mail file’, I can usually find in the first 4 messages in their inbox 3 messages about scheduled server reboots from 2001 or so…
Subject: RE: Lotus Notes Database Size Related Query
Under Notes 7, I can’t think of anything. File size is file size, and as long as the users insist on keeping everything, there’s not a lot that can be done.
I will say, too, that I’m not aware of any email server/client that will allow unlimited storage, but maybe there is…
Anyhow, If you upgrade to a more current version of the server, DAOS (Domino Attachment and Object Store) will move attachments from mail files to a DAOS store, which can have a significant impact of mail file size. Quite often a mail file will have multiple copies of the same attachment(s), so moving them out can have quite an impact.
