Lotus Notes automatically pulling in Contacts

We have a few users who are having issues when using the type ahead feature in Lotus Notes. Say they type in David, it automatically pulls in David from the local address book opposed to looking in the company address book and giving the drop down. Is there a setting somewhere that would give them the drop down from both the local and server address book?

Subject: Recipient Name Lookup options

Have you checked their location document(s)?

In the Mail tab, there’s a field for “Recipient Name Lookup.” It has options for “stop after first match” and “exhaustively check all address books.” I believe the second option will return the results you’re looking for.

HTH

Subject: Yeah, I tried that…

Yeah, I tired that and it didn’t work…

I tried typing in Mark as a test and it automatically pulled in the one for my recent contacts opposed to looking out on the server.

Any other suggestions?

Subject: Type ahead

Here’s an APAR that sounds similar:

LO54464: TYPE-AHEAD DOES NOT RESOLVE TO NAMES IN THE DOMINO DIRECTORY - ONLY LOCAL NAMES

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1LO54464

How about deleting the recent contacts and also removing the “DIP” folder?

Other than that, I don’t have anything else. Perhaps there’s some tie-in with the Citrix environment?

You should probably open an SPR…

Good luck!

Subject: Thanks.

Yeah, I have tried these as well to no avail. I have opened a PMR with IBM to get them to look at it. I tried removing them from the recent contacts and trying it again but it still resolves. Granted it works fine when no one is in their local address book but that defeats the purposes for the Sales Force. I will dig through these notes some more and see if I can come across something. Hopefully IBM will be able to offer some assistance as well. I am a little concerned where it says ‘This is a programming problem and will not be fixed’ Those often worry me.

Subject: Any update ?

Hithink I have the same problem here.

I have

recipient type ahead = local then server

activate recipient name type-ahead = on each character

recipient name lookup = exhaustively check all address books

When I type in ‘jen’ it pulls up two matches to jenny from my personal address book but does not resolve two jennifers in the public address book

similarly ‘mar’ finds two marks in my personal address book and a martin in the public address book but not mark from the public address book

I’ve read the LO54464 APAR, quite honestly I’m blown away by the “A programming error was found but will not be corrected. It will be a permanent restriction”

WTF ? - If I have to copy all the public address book entries to the personal address book for every notes user doesn’t that kind of defeat the whole reason for having the public address book in the first place ?

Can anyone give an explanation or interpretation for the APAR comment?

Subject: BUG without IBM response ? Client automatically pulling local contact but not domino address

David, you have found solution to this problem?

I have clients in version 8.5.2 which brings no contacts from the Domino server, only local contacts.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for us to copy in the local names.nsf for each user the content of ALL the Domino directory.

IBM, any news?

regards
