Lotus Notes 8.5.2 Multiuser Install on Terminal Server with minor issue (fx not working)

We were able to successfully install Notes Client on Terminal Server with one hiccup - We still use FX and FX likes a notes.ini file in the executable directory. (but multi-user installs do not like that.)

We tried changing registry parameters with no luck. (notes.link)

Even hard coded Notes link to = C:\ibm\Lotus\Notes\Notes.exe U:\notes\notes.ini

but that did not work. It launched the ole but did not send data to the ole.

And if you have a notes.ini in the c:\ibm\lotus\notes directory, it tends to override your users notes.ini file in their u:\notes directory, even if you use the shortcut pointing to their ini, “=u:\notes\notes.ini”

Anyone have any solutions/ideas?

Subject: NTFS Symlinks?

Symlinks are apparently available on Windows 2008. You might be able to create a symlink to notes.ini in your Notes program directory that points back to the user’s data directory.

Not exactly sure how’d that work with multiple users in a Citrix environment.

There doesn’t appear to be a way to make NotesFX use the notes.ini in the data directory.
