Lotus Domino Fax Server?

Does anyone know if there Lotus Domino can be used as a fax server or if there is a good 3rd party product out there that will serve this purpose?

I was looking at the server tasks in the administrator and saw a Fax Server task available. But there is nothing in the admin help about it. Any ideas?

Subject: H-Fax (replacement for Domino Fax / Fax for Domino) - lotus domino fax server

If you’re looking for a simple and inexpensive fax solution you should take a look at H-Fax. It is a fax and voicemail solution for Domino which runs on a

Windows platform. It can be used as a replacement for the discontinued (EOL)

“IBM Integrated Domino Fax” and “Lotus Fax for Domino” . There is an option to

route inbound faxes to specific people / groups based on Caller ID (CID).

You can use it just for fax if you are not interested in the voicemail feature

– voicemail mailboxes and call transferring. It supports up to 99 voice

mailboxes and incoming voicemails can be routed to specific people / groups.

It also allows you to send a voice e-mail (V E-Mail) which is fun if you’re

tired of typing Lotus Notes email messages.

Subject: Hi Carl Tyler

Yes, you can thank Google for that response. I typed “H-Fax Lotus Domino fax server” when searching for help to upgrade one of my customers from H-Fax running on 32-bit Domino to 64-bit Domino running on Windows. I have alot of experience implementing H-Fax, so thought I would add yet another fine, clear and concise post rather that a post that requires more clicking and research.

And if anyone needs my assistance implementing I am always around. ok, sorry for that plug. no need for your reply.

Subject: Lotus Domino Fax Server?

I’m fairly new to Notes so I’m not going to specifically speak about Domino’s Fax capabilities. One system I am familiar with and have implemented for desktop faxing and some automated faxing is Interstar Technology’s LightningFax. Check http://www.faxserver.com for details.

They have some neat integration tools for Domino. Again, I haven’t used them but saw them in their White-papers. The best part is that their support is knowledgeable and great to work with.

Subject: Lotus Domino Fax Server?

The reference you see in Domino Administrator is for an obsolete product.

Lotus once made the Fax for Domino product, which “died with R5 - I think it was”. (It wasn’t free, but an addon).

Today you have to purchase a 3’rd party product.

These products come in different categories, some that integrate completely with Domino (where you configure and administer the fax server through Domino databases).

And others that are configured as gateway products, and you configure them through a proprietary interface.

I’ve worked with two different products a high-end product Esker Fax for Notes (formerly VSI-Fax) and RightFax.

See http://www.esker.com and http://www.rightfax.com

Thanks all… After talking to all the recommended vendors, it looks like extracomm.com will be the solution for us. Again, the forum pays off.

Subject: bad old days…

I remember many a sleepless night trying to configure that piece of crap Fax Server add on. It would work, then stop working, then “sort of” work again. Of course, Lotus’ support was no help in getting it to work either. It came as no surprise to me when Lotus abandoned this product - I don’t think anyone really obtained satisfactory results with that product.

Subject: Been there, done that. You really had to use a high end fax board for it to work semi-reasonably

Subject: Not agree

It worked great for me, and I am surprise you said it was difficult to setup. I had not problem doint it…

In fact, I was very upset about this product being discontinued… For me, it was easier before…now, I depend on a external party tool…
