Hi There,
Is there an easy to log if the user initiated a compact from their mail file?
The log comes up and shows compactions, but this is not definitive enough to show if it was the user that triggered it.
Thank In Advance.

Subject: Log User Initiated Compaction
I don’t know of anything to flag how compact was called, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out whether the compact was user triggered or scheduled. You know when it is scheduled to kick off, anything else will be done by the user.

It shouldn’t,
But in this case the users are stating that they are not hitting the compaction button and there are no schedules set for compaction at this time(noon).
The only common factor between the users that appear to be compacting around this time is automatic archiving, I am not aware that automatic archiving would also trigger a compact though.
From testing of automatic archiving on some of our mail files we were not able to have the database compact automatically.
The ability not to track the issue via logging presents a problem as the server suffers slowdown when these compactions occur.
Would anyone happen to know if archiving also triggers a compact?
