We are currently storing our user id’s in a common folder on the network. We are wanting to implement Zero Touch installs which to my knowledge user ID’s have to be stored in the Domino Directory.-Are there any pros or cons that someone can provide to storing User Id’s in the Domino Directory?
-How about existing User Id’s? Can I migrate them into the Domino Directory?

Here is what I have done. I capture all ID’s into a secure common folder all with a default password. The users ID is then copied to their personal folder on the network into a floder called NotesID. The person is instructed to log to that ID and change the password. The install is not fully touchless but I suspect with a little scripting it could be made pretty transparent. This way if we get a call that they forgot their password we can copy the default ID back to Notesid/??? and they can log in using the default password and then change it (write it on a post-it note and stick it on their computer monitor ). Of course they will have lost any certificates they may have had, and if they are using encrytion that will be lost as well, but we’re good but not that good.

That’s sounds like a good plan/method. Like I was mentioning before…our development team cam eo tme asking for a method to automatically find the Notes ID in the Domino Directory during the Lotus Notes configuration.I am only a few months new to the DOmino world so these tasks are certainly a challenge for me to figure out.
