I have been searching the form, Designer & Admin help for a hint of archiving & compact of local mail file replicas. Can’t seem to find a definitive answer. Here are the basics:
-
Use a local mail replica scheme.
-
Archiving is done from the Client to local archive.
-
Hard 75M (for most users) is in place.
-
Compact is running on a weekly schedule on mail servers.
The question is, does either a) archiving or b) running Compact on the mail server – compact the local mail file?
Thanks
Tim

Is the local mail file set to replicate with the mail server?

It’s irrelevant if the local mail file is set to replicate with the mail server. To compact a local replica (mail file or otherwise), you can run ncompact from a command prompt on the pc. Archiving locally or compacting on the server won’t do it.

Thanks, that was what I suspected and performance indicated but I could not find documentation to support my guess.
