Load Balance Appliance Experience

I’m looking for a small business load balance / failover appliance for small Domino shop that does not break a department’s budget. I cam accross these two appliances that seem promising:

  1. Kemp Technologies Load Balancer - LoadMaster 1500. Listed for $2,490.

  1. Coyote E250si which is listed about $3.5K but you can get it on the market for about $3K.

Anyone has experience w/ these products that you can share? Or, if you have recommendation of other load balance appliances?

Also, there seem to be discussion of L4 vs L7 (layer 4 vs layer 7) on these products. What are L4 and L7?
