I am interested in a simple java chat application. Purpose… allow a 1-1 chat session from customer to support center. User clicks icon on page and it initiates a private session. Sounds familiar… thoughts turn to STLinks, Sametime, etc… The issue in this case is $$$. The customer cannot afford to purchase Sametime. Any ideas? I have searched the web and found subscription-based services like LivePerson, CSLive, etc… The customer prefers, if possible, to have it run locally as a java agent/applet. I’m hoping someone here has had some +++ experiences on Domino. Simple chat w/o all the other features like whiteboard, file-sharing, etc…

What about letting the customer contact via a web chat:

Don’t get me wrong… I do respect the collective talent at Instant Technologies! In this, case Sametime is not an option. I know about the archiving products, STLinks postings, etc… at IT but these require Sametime (unless I am missing something). I’m looking for a simple java applet that can be plugged into a couple pages… any more ideas? This really is a small site… maybe a 5-10 chat sessions in a day. Small, small…
