Linux Install (7.01)

I am attempting to install Notes on SUSE 10.1 - unfortunately, when I run the installer it gives me the “Can not validate Mozilla version.”

I downloaded a few version, added gre.conf to /etc/gre.d and still get the same error!

Help?

you may need to place the gre.conf file in a different location like /etc/gre/gre.conf

depends on your distro

Later edit –

Look at this post too…

I just tried putting the firefox info in there instead, Did not work.

I also tried using the “xulrunner” method, Did not work.

You’d think Firefox would be able to do it. I tried leaving the 1.4, replacing ti with 1.5 and even [1.5.0.7].

The person who originally posted that thread still has a problem. Unfortunately, I cannot find contact info on them to see if they finished it.

Any suggestions??

edit: No luck with /etc/gre/gre.conf either

I am using the OpenSUSE 10.1 distro, upgraded from 10.0

My understanding is that you need Firefox 1.7 or later, but your issue is that Lotus cannot find the Firefox bin.

the GRE.conf file prob points to the /usr/bin/firefox script.

The script should point (or it may be a link) to the actual firefox installation.

I had the same issue and this is what the issue was.

Oddly if you go to Mozilla and download the Firefox bin, you could end up with several different versions of firefox installed… you think it is using one version, but it actually is using another.

I don’t see why it cannot find the bin. Here is a screenshot of it:

I downloaded Firefox 2.0 (tar.gz) so I suppose I will install that and then point to the new directory, again?

the bin may be there, but your profile must still be able to find it.

see if the command “which firefox” yeilds the same location when run from a prompt using your regular profile.

then type “firefox” at the same command line and goto help–> about the see if it is the same version you expected.
