Limit records in replicaiton

I am looking for a way, if it’s possible, to take a database, make a local replica, and when replicating, only pull the records that are accessable to that user.

Specifically, I am making a database to archive records from another database. Every record has an attribute that only allowes it to be accessed by certain people, like a security level.

After some time, the record will be archived. I am looking for a way to archive it locally, and then upload it. Once uploaded, I am trying to find out if it is possible to have people only be able to pull that specific record into their local replica if they are also of that security level.

If person A is of security level 3, and B is of level 2, A won’t be able to replicate any of Bs level 2 records, thereby decreasing the ammount of records that A has to replicate needlessly.

Again, I’m not sure it’s possible, but I thought I’d ask.

Thanks

Michael,

I am perhaps bleary-eyed this morning, but am not completely sure what you’re asking. Are you asking if you can put a security role on every document and have users only replicate their security role and higher?

So a person with [security3] can see and replicate docs with [security3] or [security4] but not [security2]?

If so, you can do this with reader names, but then the user will not be able to even see these docs on the server. If that’s ok, then that’s one solution. Another solution would be to use Selective Replication. It’s not a security feature, just a convenience feature that lets you replicate subsets of data. You can programmatically touch these so you could automate something.

Yes, this sounds like the direction I’m looking for.

Thank you.

If your using Readers/Authors fields to control access(you should be) then this limitation is automatically performed for you during replication. The user is only allowed to replicate records they have access to.
