Launching MP3's hosted on Domino server via iPhone

Can’t seem to get an MP3 A HREF link to play on iPhone. When you click the link via the iPhone, mobile safari says ‘Safari cannot open the file’. The same link plays the MP3 fine in Safari, IE, Firefox, Chrome.

  • The MP3 files are all over 10Mb

  • Domino Admins have told me MIME types for MP3’s are configured correctly.

  • Domino site is https

  • Don’t actually have an iPhone but I’m assuming the iPhone can play MP3’s?

Which is the best method to use to force the iPhone to open the MP3 hosted on Domino server in Quicktime:

mysong

Or

mysong.mp3.mp3

Or

mysong.mp3.mp3

Or

mysong.mp3.mp3

Or

Or

Or

alt : test.mp3

Any suggestions at all much appreciated. Thanks.

Subject: Re: Streaming MP3’s from Domino to iPhone

The code you need to HTTP/S stream from Domino to Quicktime on iPhone is:

If you are uploading the MP3’s via Notes client (File->Attach) you MUST untick the ‘Compress’ option in the attach dialog box. This option is seriously hidden away at the bottom of the dialog box and is ticked by default. iPhone can’t stream compressed files.
