Last name and domain name same - mail delivery failure

Dear All,

I am facing a very strange issue. I have a user lets say john smith. His mail id is john.smith@ab.ibm.com. Also, I have an internal notes domain with the name Smith. If I send an email to user using his SMTP address (internally), I get a delivery failure saying - User John@Smith not listed in domino directory

I am sure its not a user specific problem as if I use any fictitious user with the last name same as the domain name, it always returns a delivery failure saying no user name firstname@domainname.

Is this a domino bug or something wrong in the configuration.

Look in your server document’s configuration under Router/SMTP and then the Basic tab. What do you have selected for Address Lookup?

I had this problem a few years ago and I think the values there were where my problem was, can’t really remember.

thanks David…Its set to Full Address…Its always been like this for us…Its for this specific user only…
