Japanese with Notes 6.5 client on Mac

Can Notes client 6.5 for MacOS handle Japanese and other characters?I found an answer in the forum that Notes 6.0 can not.

It is very irritating that all Japanese characters become “*”.

Looks like, it knows how to convert iso-2022-jp or utf-8 yet it does not know how to display.

As Windows client and Mac client can not exchange message in language other than English, it is really an annoying problem.

hi did this ever get sorted out? I have mac version 7.02 notes and same problem as version 6.5 when I gave up… just get **** when typeing in japanese and I dont wanna switch to japanese version…
