Is there a way to search what is on a user's desktop?

Hi, I need to build an agent that when executed from a database from a user’s notes client, that it will build a list of databases with the server, path and replicaids for a subset of databases (may be local or on the server) located on that user’s workspace.

Is there anyway to progromatically traverse though a user’s workspace using lotus script? The NotesDbDirectory doesn’t help me because these databases may be local replicas or server based copies. I can identify the database via the designTemplateName property once I have a handle to all of the databases on the workspace.

Thanks,

Heather Smith

Binary Tree has a tool that can produce the following type of output. Visit http://www.binarytree.com/domains for more information. They can even include information for bookmarks as well.

Our tool http://www.clientgenie.com can do this (and much more, managing bookmarks, workspace, replicator page, toolbars…).

If that’s too much overhead for you current project, there’s a (undocumentd) way to get access to users current workspace wich would allow you to get all this information (using lots of external c-api calls).

But it’s not that easy to run this code on users clients - maybe sending it out by mail, either using a button or without button if stored forms can be used.

You can contact me by email if you like…

I found a tool that does this. It’s purpose is to do something else, but if you fill in the right parameters, the result is that it dumps the contents of a user’s workspace into a text file. Then I wrote code to read the text file. I just needed something quick to get the job done.

Download the 6.x DSKTOOL.EXE Utility tool from this web site http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=475&context=SSKTWP&q1=DSKTool&uid=swg24004260&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en

and follow the read me instructions.

Thanks again.
