We had a server crash and reinstalled with cert and server id from previous setup. For some reason, any cross certification we do now results in “invalid signature” error. We have tried to remedy that with no success. For various reasons we will need to recertify all of our ids anyway so, we want to simply recreate a new cert and “start over” (the current cert id file was created way back under R4.6 and has been carried forward ever since).
Short of uninstalling and reinstalling the server, is there a way to create a new cert id?
Thanks,
Dieter
Subject: Is there a way to create a new O certifier id short of reinstalling server
Dieter,
Sounds like a huge hammer to crack a walnut as you’re creating a lot of work for yourself.
That being said - you can create a new certifier by using the “register Organization” option in your Admin Client - Its just under the Person, Server etc in the Registration Tool
BUT
If you try to register an organisation with Exactly the same name as your origional one your server(s), Person Id’s will most likely have a real problem when you try to recertify them as they’ll see the Old and New Certifier Names ad identical but with different Public Keys.
So - Yes a certifier can be created very easily but there can be traps.
My advice would be to run up a duplicate of the one you want to recertify and try it on that one first.
