Is there a ST 12 server for Windows?

I have clients that have old versions of Sametime on Windows on old Windows operating systems (ST 8.5 on Windows 2008 for example).

They want/need to upgrade these servers. These are smaller client, less than 400 users. Is Sametime 12 and the future roadmap for Linux and Docker ONLY? Is there a plan for a Windows Server installation?

Would Sametime 12 work on a Windows Docker container (if there is such a thing)?

I ask these questions because some of these client do not have any linux machines, expertise or methods to back up such servers.

If the answer is that Sametime now, and moving forward will only be on Docker, then I just need that clarification and start preparing my clients for this change.

I prefer Linux for Domino servers, but there are some "Windows Server ONLY" companies out there. I understand Sametime 12 no longer has a Domino Community server.

I could install ST 11.6 on Windows, as I've done other places, but I don't like installing older software if I don't need to.

Your answers and opinions are much appreciated.

There's no windows based ST 12 as of now so only option is to install on Linux/centOS. Also there's no separate ST community server in 12. Its a single package that installs everything.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting this question, here is a knowledge article that flows well with ST 12 requirements

Presently there are no plans for specific windows support,

Keith

If your client does not want to run Linux, you could outsource it by letting Prominic run their Sametime server. It would still run on Linux, but just not on-prem.
