Is Lotus Notes Traveler successfully deployed on iPhones/iPods at your company?

If your company is deploying (or has deployed) Lotus Notes Traveler on Apple iPhone/iPod devices then I have these questions for you:

  • On approximately how many iPhone/iPod devices is Traveler deployed within your organization?

  • Do you have any 'best practices" recommendations/insights that led to the successful deployment at your company?

Thanks!

40-50 (and growing)

applying the latest version of Domino + fix packs / creating a customized security policy using the iPhone Configuration Utility / easy to follow user documentation with screenshots for selfservice

Subject: Deployed

We’ve deployed about 6 now. Only hurdle we faced was with security of the communication between the iPhone and the Traveler server. We began with using the Cisco VPN client on the device, but found that Activesync push to the iPhone did not work when connecting to a Cisco VPN. It was confirmed by IBM as an issue. That was what we would have liked to do, but we are now using a reverse proxy and that is working just fine. No issues with connectivity.

One thing to note however. If you require your users to change their Internet password or sync the Internet password with Notes, the users will also need to change the password on the iPhone. If you lock out Internet accounts after a number of incorrect password attempts, your users may get locked out every time they change their internet passwords. The iPhone tries multiple times to connect and will lock the account. Happens in the Exchange world also because AD accounts are used for Activsync and they always have a lockout mechanism in place.

Otherwise it works perfectly and the users are happy with it (including myself!).

Subject: Pilot is going well

We have deployed about 25 iPhone deployed to date

Subject: Is Lotus Notes Traveler successfully deployed on iPhones/iPods at your company?

We have deployed 18 and have had virtually no issues. Even when our server died last week, re-installing Domino and Traveler was simple and all but one iPhone reconnected without a problem (the other one required reinstalling the email account). I supported BlackBerrys at my previous company so it’s nice to deploy something that simply works straight out of the box!

The only issue that has arisen is that groups are not synching, but from what I read on the forum this is a known issue and will be looked at in further releases. This should have been included in the “Apple limitations and restrictions” documentation but wasn’t.

Subject: iPhones deployed via Traveler

We have approximately 7 iPhones using Traveler at our company. We just followed the directions and deployed via the web page to our Traveler server, intalled app as it directs and have had zero problems with the iPhones.
