I have 10 small pictures and need to place them after one another on the same row.
Each picture should show/hide depending on a field in a document.
If a picture is hidden, that picturespace should be hidden.
note: using a table column for each picture is not an option as I have not found a way to hide a table column. (just its content)

This is not possible on the same row if they’re not in their own table column.
However, one thing I have done, is create 10 rows, and have all the pictures on each row. Then, set a hidden field below depending on what they choose in the field above. You’ll need to use a ton of “hide-when” functionality, but it will work.

There is only one hide formula for each paragraph. Unless you’re talking a row in a table, one “row” is all the same paragraph.
If this is a web application, you could use computed text passthru HTML.
Or, if you use a table with extremely narrow cells, the cell, though not absent, should at least be very small if its contents are hidden.
