InviewEdit and Scope of Variables

Hi all,

InviewEdit is the best thing since Lotus 123 (ok almost as good!!).

However, because there are effectively two passes of the Event - the Validation and Save Requests, the variables defined or derived in the Validate Request are not visible to the Save Request.

How can I make the variables that I create in the Validate Request available when I process the Save Request - without having to go thru the same process again?

For example, a user changes a date in the date column and I convert that to a processing period in the Validate Request to confirm it is a valid date for that record/period.

Then when I want to process the Save Request, I need to convert the date again to save the period on the document.

I’ve tried declaring the variables in the Globals for the View, but InviewEdit doesn’t seem to use the Globals of the view.

Any ideas (other than temporary INI variables)?

I would have thought globals would have worked, but you can also declare variables as Static in a module by using the word Static instead of Dim.

Try to put the variable definition in “(Declarations)”, this is over the “queryopen” event, in the list of view events.
