Invalid RTF data on the clipboard

With a recent upgrade to 7.0 (apparently), I now get an exclamation point pop-up showing “#29:5” and a subsequent “Invalid RTF data on the clipboard” error when trying to paste something that was copied from a PDF file. What might be causing this?

Unfortunately, this comes with a new laptop, new Adobe V7, an upgrade to Notes 7, etc., so the cause might be anywhere!

Subject: Known Issue

I’ve had the same problem here and opened a PMR concerning this subject. This problem is a known issue and fixed in Notes 7.0.2

Subject: RE: Known Issue

I use Notes 7.0.2 on a Windows XP. I copy an html text from internet and paste it in MS-Word.

When I try to paste the table that is included in the text into a Notes rich text field, I receive the error “Invalid RTF data on the clipboard”.

With Notes 6.5.2 this error never occurred.

Conclusion: issue is NOT fixed.

Subject: Invalid RTF Data

Have you heard any fix for this? I have a user with a 7.0.2 client on XP and she has a table in a MS Word document and when she tries to copy and paste the table into a new email she gets “RTF Input Contains Invalid RTF Statement” and “Invalid RTF Data on the Clipboard”. However if she sends me the word document I have no problem using my 7.0.2 client to copy and paste the table into a new email.

Any ideas?

To whom it may concern:

We have this problem on 6.5.5 running XP.

As a workaround, I’ve found that if I use edit - paste special - and choose “text” instead of “rich text”, the clipboard data will paste into a memo.

Sometimes edit - paste special seems to work, even if “rich text” is selected.

I’m seeing this too, on 7.0 and 7.0.1, but not 6.5.4. I either get “#29:5” or “RTF input ended prematurely”, followed by “Invalid RTF data on the clipboard”. If I save the clipboard to disk and view it in a hex editor, the rtf section looks fine.

is it a bug because I have the same pb with Adobe 7 and Notes 7.01?

Subject: RE: Invalid RTF data on the clipboard

We have the “#29:5” + “Invalid RTF data on the clipboard.” here on Notes 6.5.5 / Adobe Reader 7.0.7, too. Does anyone know yet what this is?

I had the same problem today - Notes 7 and Acrobat 7.It seems to be a bug in Lotus Notes 7.

Here is a workaround:

If you choose the style of the text field to be “operating-system” instead of “Notes” (border around the field) than paste of text from Acrobat works !
