Internet Password Change not working from iNotes Web Access

Hello all,

We implemented Domino in our organization months back and we noticed that password change worked fine though it took quite some time for the change to take effect. We wanted the password change to take effect immediately so we entered the parameter below on the server’s notes.ini as follows:

HTTP_PWD_CHANGE_CACHE_HOURS = 0

However a few month down the line a funny behavior started, the password change stopped working and users can no longer change their password successfully from iNotes though they get the message that password change request has been submitted but the change does not take effect on the server.

We’ve been seeking for a solution to this problem but none is readily available. We removed the parameter above from notes.ini just to be sure it’s not the cause of the problem yet that did not solve the problem, we added the parameter again and no change was noticed still.

Please this is a serious issue in our organization now, people can not change there password, and this is very important because when we create new users, we give them default password which is meant to be changed immediately but because of this problem new users use there default passwords which everybody knows. Please how can we resolve this problem?

Pls. note that we use iNotes Web Access.

Thanks in advance for your much desired assistance.

Austine.

Subject: Internet Password Change not working from iNotes Web Access

Austine,Did you ever find a fix to this situation, or has anybody else encountered something similar? My organization is having almost the exact same problem.

We never had an entry in the server’s notes.ini file for HTTP_PWD_CHANGE_CACHE_HOURS, but the password change option from iNotes is not working correctly for our users. It shows that the change has been submitted, but the new password never takes effect. However, if I select the option to force a password change at their next login, it will present the user with the password change screen and the change will go through successfully from there.

Even more strange is the fact that the password change does work for members of our NotesAdmin group. For instance, when I go to my iNotes, bring up Preferences, and put in the new password, it goes through instantly. This makes me believe that it’s a matter of access and not of configuration, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what I’m overlooking!

Thanks very much to anybody who can shed some light on this.
