Intermittent trouble attaching and exporting

I have at least three users that are having these problems:

  1. The “Create Attachments” box does not appear when trying to attach a file to the BODY of a message (not the Subject). Drag and drop DOES work fine.

  2. The “Export” box does NOT appear when choosing “Export” from the “File” menu. This is after they put a check mark next to the document.

These two problems appear to go together. Either they both work or neither works. This changes from day to day.

The systems are as follows:

  • Dell Optiplex

  • LN 8.0.2 (Basic client)

  • Win XP Pro SP3 (all security patches)

  • Symantec Endpoint 11.0.4

This is what I’ve done so far…without success:

  • Renamed the bookmark.nsf and desktop6.ndk files and had Notes re-create them.

  • Upgrade to 8.0.2 FP4.

  • Upgrade to 8.5.1.

  • Recertified users ID.

  • Uninstalled Notes, removed all registry entries and folders and re-installed 8.0.2 FP4.

The user could attach and export after each one of the steps above only to come back the next day to have it not work.

I suspect that the problem might have something to do with a Windows Update because I haven’t changed anything on the client or server for quite some time.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
