Integrating with Telephony using TAPI

Im trying to integrate with a third parties telephony system. I am able to call the “TAPI32.dll” and pass the required values (as shown in numerous posts) however this only seems to run the windows/MS dialler.

What I want to do is call/run another TAPI driver (defined in the modem & phone, advanced section of the control panel)

Any info on how this can be achieved would be appreciated.

To start with all I want to achieve is to call the dialler/sware and pass the number to be dialed.

Thanks in advance

I’m doing this at the moment aswell but via a 3rd party app written in python. Here’s a few hints:

  1. Get the TB3x.exe (downloadable free from ms somewhere) tapi browser, make sure you can get it to do what you want before coding. This is important - I ignored this advice and it set me back two days!

  2. To select a specific driver, use EnumerateAddresses() on your initialized tapi object. Then repeatedly call Next on the returned Enum object. The Next method is a bit unusual, the first argument is the number of drivers you want to return (i.e. 1, most of the time) and the second argument is the address of a variable to store how many remaining entries are in the enumeration. I just used the AddressName variable of each driver to spot the one I wanted.

  3. MS has some good examples, you just need to convert them into LotusScript: Code Examples - Win32 apps | Microsoft Learn

If you want want my python code then just ask although it wont map to LotusScript very well (I’m using a library that does a lot of work you’ll have to do yourself).

Hope this helps - I found it was a very steep learning curve until it just “clicked”.
