Installing BES & Domino

Hello,I’m about to install the BES 4.1 on a W2K3 server for Domino 6.55. Following the Installation guide it sems that SQLServer has to be installed. I’ve done the same for Exchange 2003 server and only the MSDE was needed. So, do i need or not this funny SQLServer? Thanks in advance

We installed the funny mini-sql server as recommended by the installation guide and all works fine for us.

We are running BES 4.1 on W2K3 and Domino 7.0.1

I would install it, what are your concerns?

MSDE is free, SQL is not. However, MSDE has severe disaster recovery limitations. Do the research before you decide.

Ok, fine, i’ll install the msde. No great needs for the SQLServer. Thanks for the help.

When I installed it I was basically told that the MSDE was fine for a small number of users (we have 25). If you have a large number of users look into using SQL, but otherwise don’t bother.
