Removed old client (7.x) on Windows XP machine and attempted to install Lotus Notes 8.0.2. During isntall process (after installation files are unpacked) getting error:“The installation source for this product is not available”.
Works on another machine. Other windows installer programs install fine. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Subject: Clean machine
Make sure you delete ALL traces of Notes from this machine. Do a search on ‘notes.ini’ just to be sure. If this doesn’t work, you can look in the registry for any hanging keys that were not properly removed.
Subject: Registry Corruption
This error is a Windows Installer error (code: 1612 ERROR_INSTALL_SOURCE_ABSENT). This has been known to occur when the registry has become corrupted, and can occur for other software than the Notes client.
Try running either a Windows System Restore to a point before the issue began, or try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility at Microsoft’s site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301.
