Hey,Can R5 and R6 Domino Servers be installed on the same Windows 2000 server? Can R5 and R6 clients be installed on the same PC? And How? I am short on hardware and not ready to give up R5 yet. Please help.

It’s not recommended.However, I do have a laptop with both R5 and ND6 client/designer/admin installed.
Just make sure that when you install ND6, you specify new program and data folders.
If you want to start both versions, start the R5 first.

Widely published is the tip regarding running multiple clients by installing different releases into separate directories and then running alternatively notes.exe or nlnotes.exe. The following is an extension of this principle.
Once multiple install’s have been performed, copy and rename nlnotes.exe (it doesn’t work by doing the following with notes.exe) to anything you wish. Then modify a shortcut to run the new executable rather than the standard exe.
The following will enable you to run R4, R5 and ND6 clients on the same workstation (memory and disk space permitting).

Install R4 into the default …\notes and …\notes\data locations (tip: MOVE notes.ini from the default windows -ie Windows/WINNT- folder to the …\notes program folder)

Install R5 into the default …\lotus\notes and …\lotus\notes\data locations

Install ND6 into …\nd6 and …\lotus\nd6\data locations

Copy the R5 nlnotes.exe in the …\lotus\notes program folder, paste it into the same folder and rename it to R5.exe

Create shortcuts that point to:
Notes.exe for R4, starting in …\notes
R5.exe for R5, starting in …\lotus\notes
Nlnotes.exe for nd6, starting in …\nd6
Same principal for servers…

Ah - I’d not attempt to get two different domino servers on there. Clients, yes, servers no.
(ironically, the unx implementations all allow different versions of the server to run at the same time (better memory model in Unx), but no clients).
If your short on hardware, use VMWARE (http://www.vmware.com) to create a second virtual machine. Bear in mind that this is only good for functional testing. Performance might not be good enough for actual live running.
