Inst. domnio 6.5.4 fix pack 1 - strings.dat error

hi,

i try to install the fp1 on an domino 6.5.4 (german language pack) and receive the following error.

Whats wrong ???

strings.res is the file that is responsible for server output e.g. on the console, in http error messages etc.

if you delete it you will see fancy messages showing e.g. “6F:3E” instead of “Starting Server Shutdown”.

My guess would be that FP1 installer checks the strings.res file, expecting that is is a vanilla 6.5.4 strings.res. But since you have german language pack installed it finds another one which does not match its criteria.

Getting a mint codition 6.5.4 strings.res file would make things work i guess.

Solution:

Restore the “old” Notes.jar and strings.res from an original engl. server or install at first the fixpack and then the langpack.
