Inserting a subform (I think)

I have to do something and I’m not sure if it’s easy and me just being stupid - or not. If this has been posted many times before then can someone please just point me in the right direction and tell me what keywords to search the forum for?

I need to have a form which has 2 parts to it.

There needs to be a top part which has information that will be keyed in once by the user.

There will be a bottom part to this form where they need to fill in details that will be changing on a weekly basis.

Every week they will need to go into this form and add new details to the bottom, whilst the top stays the same and whilst retaining the history of what has been there before.

So ideally I would like them to click a button and a new bottom part to the form appears and they can fill it in (there are several fields to this bottom part).

Then when someone else goes into the form, they can see all of the history.

Does that make sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think a better approach to what you want is to have a main document which contains the “top” part you describe. Then, each week could be a response document, although when the user looks at it, it will simply show the parent information at the top of the form and the current information at the bottom (done through lookups or “parent preview”, which you can turn on automatically through LotusScript or formula language).

Now, when someone wants to see “all the information”, you use an embedded view with a single category which matches the parent document, and suddenly your embedded view shows all the history.

If this is for web usage, you could use iFrames [1] to bring up a form for second section. This will create an appearance similar to editing on the same form. While submission, from iframe[1], you could make this document as response to the main document.

You could also embed all response/s (from a view as discussed by Ben) in another iframe [2]. When user clicks on a view link in iframe[2], document could be opened in the iframe[1] in read mode. Depending on access level you could show edit/read functionality etc

Thank you both for your suggestions - Ben that was exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you very much for your help.
