InputStream on a single Notes Document

Hello. Has anybody come across a way to establish an InputStream on a single document in Lotus Notes? I’d like to write the content of the entire document to a ByteArray and be able to stream it anywhere from there (rtf, word, pdf, etc) but I just can’t find a way to stream a single document.

Well, actually it is kinda possible by writing individual fields to streams and writing the data to an outputstream but that’s pretty much good for text only. I’ve also looked into iText but this looks to me like it requires a complete reconstruction of the notes document in pdf format and it can get painful for email with images, etc.

Thank you very much for reading this.

What are you trying to do, Tom? Maybe it’s my simple view of the world, but it seems to me that streaming a document into another application (outside Lotus Notes) is not really useful because that external system wouldn’t have any idea of what to do with those bytes. On the other hand, you could generate an XML rendition of the document and stream that, because other applications can handle XML.

Maybe posting your final goal would help?

Hi

question:

will xml handle attachments ?

I am really not sure there is a way of doing it, but maybe a java class, using serialization, could help.

not sure at all (maybe should I stayed mute… )
