iNotes user cannot view his mailfile

Okay, so I’ve received this message a couple of times on two very different Domino servers and I’m hoping to get some perspective on this.

Server1: v01 (Windows 2008 & Domino 7.0.2)

Server2: Ext (Windows 2008 & Domino 8.5.1)

-both are 32-bit systems

Create a new user and try to login to their mailfile via iNotes and receive the following message:

“Invalid username or password was specified.”

I know I’m using the right name and password given that I just created the users. I’ve tried their shortnames, full names, full names/domain, etc. I login as myself to their mailfile, and being an Administrator on their account, it works brilliantly so I know the mailfile is being created. I also cannot find anything in the logs for this.

What does your Domino Directory profile document in your Domino Directory say for “use more secure Internet Passwords”? If you choose the highest level of encryption it doesn’t work on a 7.x server.

Lower it down and reset the internet password for the user. You’ll be back in business.
