My question is about the server document:

General- routing task

we can choose:

  • mail routing

  • SMTP mail routing

  • X400 mail routing

  • ccmail mail routing.

( sorry, my notes server is a french one, so I do not know if my traduction is good)

Could you tell what is SMTP mail routing?

What is the difference between this parameter and the parameter below “listenning SMTP” enable?

Ans what is the difference with the parameter in the configuration document: router/SMTP"

SMTp used during the mail sent…?

It’s not important if your translation is not good.

SMTP, X400 Ccmailrouting are mail routing protocol.(Ce sont des protocoles de routage des mails et selon l’infrastructure de ton entreprise tu utilise tel ou tel protocole . Tu utilise par défaut le routage propre à notes ( que dans ton réseau interne ), tu peut aussi utiliser SMTP pour router tes mails (envoie et réception de mails))

When you enabled the fied “listenning SMTP” you authorize you server to receive mails from the Internet or from anothers server that use SMTP protocols .( le protocole le plus utilié sur Internet est SMTP ) .

In fact my problem is that there is 3 parameters and I don’t know what is the parameter “routing task” of the server document.

Is it necessary to use this parameter to configure SMTP?

Looking at the help database, to configure SMTP in and out, we need only the parameters:

  • “listenner task” in server document (in)

  • “SMTP used for sending messages…” in the configuration document.(out)

on which cases do you use this parameter “routing task” of the server document?

After a bit look at notes help and server document i see more clearly what you mean.

The parameter Routing task is used in case where you server is a gateway for other server which use other protocol. like X400 ccmail .

By defaut it is Mail routing ( = Notes and SMTp protocol ). tu n’utilise ces champs que dans des cas particuliers . Ce champ n’est pas à modifier dans la cas ou tu utilise le routage Notes ou SMTP. The field "SMTP task and the setting document at Router/SMTP tab is more important .J’espère avoir répondu à ta question . Bye Christelle .

For the problem, j’utilise le champs Routing task uniquement dans le cas ou c’est une passerelle vers un autre serveur?(smtp, x400, ccmail)

Est ce que c’est necessaire de mettre notes ET SMTP protocol?

Can I put only “notes” if I configure the 2 others parameters for SMTP routage?

What is the added value to put “SMTP routage” in the field “routing task”?

waouw you are far of me … hihi

You english is good .

You don’t need to use SMTP on you LAn , you can just use Notes routing but if you want to send mail out of your LAN you have to enabled SMTP at last one server which is connected to INternet .

Je ne suis pas certain mais si tu met smtp routage ton serveur agis exclusivement en passerelle SMTP.

Il n’est pas nécessaire de modifier ce champ.
