Importing XML and renaming directories

I’m writing an Agent in LotusScript that takes an XML file sent to us from another system and imports the data into Lotus Notes (automatically creates new documents/forms). I’m using SAXParser and DXLImporter to import the data, but the sequential number for the form is a computed field on the form. What I need to do is use that sequential number to rename a directory on the file system that holds the supporting information for each newly created form. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations on how to get that sequential number during the process of creating the form/importing of the data so that I can automatically rename the directory as part of the process?

Hmm, tricky indeed. Is it an absolute requirement to use the SAX parser?

If not, it should be easy enough to parse the XML and find the info you need before you import the XML.

Even with SAX, you should be able to find that info and do the appropriate processing before the actual import.

In both cases, it looks like you will need to process the XML twice.

Sorry, can’t think of any other way.

Thank you so much for your input! It is not an absolute requirement to use the SAX parser. Based on your idea, I could get a count for how many request nodes are in the XML document and then create one-up request numbers for each of the requests before doing the import. I guess the biggest risk would be that someone might manually submit a request form at the same time that the application is generating request forms and a request number may be duplicated…?
