I have an exisiting form in a Notes database that I have added 2 new fields to. I already have 100’s of documents created using this form and now I need to populate the existing documents with the data for the new fields. The data for these new fields is in an Excel spreadsheet.
How do I import this field data to the existing Notes documents? The import function on the File menu seems to only create new docs, not modify existing ones.
Both the Excel spreadsheet and the exisiting Notes forms have a unique field that I can match up.

What I usually do in a case like this is to create a new database with the 3 fields you need on a form. Import the data into the new database. Then write a script to do a lookup to your existing documents and add the fields.
You could do it in the same database (I’m not that brave). But then you may have to change view selections, etc.
We have a free Lotus Notes / Domino Import utility you can download from our website. It supports importing from MS-Excel, amongst other file formats, and you can either create new documents or update existing documents based on one or more search keys.
You can download it from:
It has full help information, update history and is fully supported.
