Import from Excel 2010 to Notes

I am not able to import an Excel 2010 spreadsheet into a Notes database. I remember being able to do this years ago and have old instructions that are no longer viable. Is this possible with Excel 2010? If someone has instructions or can lead me to a website would be great. Thanks!

Save your excel file as .csv (comma separated values) format. Create a .col file that maps each comma separate value to a field on the form that you want to use to load the imported csv data into. Notes Help has a good section on file importing. The import wizard lets you select the form you want to use. Select file format as tabular, you can select form/field validation on import.

Comma-separated files will still import the data pretty well.

There are other ways, but they’re complicated.

I have contacted IBM as well and still no solution…

Subject: Import directly from Excel to Notes

We have an Import Utility for Lotus Notes that enables you to import directly from Excel, CSV, XML, Access, dBase, and many other file formats directly into Lotus Notes. It can create new documents or update data in existing documents.

Single user license costs less than an hour of a developer’s time.
