If I’m in the 8.5 Designer and I hit F1, I get the help. Then I go to the index, and say I want to see the NotesUIWorkspace class, I used to just start typing “NotesUIW” and it would take me there. now, the only way I can figure out how to get where I want is by drilling down through all the topics and getting to LotusScript Classes A-Z. it’s a pain. normally I’m all for adapting to new platforms, but this is one case where the old-fasioned way is truly better. unless I am missing something. Anyone know how to use the help file correctly?

Try modifying the Search Scope:
Note: It’ll take a bit to rebuild the index.
-
Click the “twiste” beside “Search Scope”.
-
Click “Advanced Settings”.
-
And within the “Working Set Content” pane, select the “Lotus Domino Designer …” content.

I agree. It is not a matter of the “old” way of finding stuff like class definitions quickly but not being able to find them at all.
There has to be a controlling directory where we can remove the multitude of help files that are being paged in. Worse yet, guess how long it takes to index the help file. It seems to stripe across all of the installed products (even the Symphony stuff if installed.)
Lets bring back fast lookups to the programming library ! Right now I would say the ratio of time spent finding information in help to actually implementing it is @ 10:1.
I feel like I am working with MS Office help using designer.
If this new help is superior then post a 2 minute tutorial .
Subject: I much prefer the old Designer help
IMO, the index is useless in the new Designer help. In the old help, it’s generally the fastest way to find the information I want.
When I use the new help (rarely), I use the search instead. However, I usually just switch to the Notes client and open the old help instead.
Subject: switch to notes client
yes, turns out if you switch to the notes client, you can open the new help file, and that works too.
