IIS downloads 84% faster than Domino! Why!?

Windows 2003 SP1 Both ServersOne is running IIS 6 and one Domino 6.5.4

Both servers are connected to the same Internet Connection: 3MB/s

So why can I download a file on the IIS server at 260KB/s and the Domino one only downloads at 40.6KB/s

Any ideas? Is there a setting somewhere - or is it just Domino is just not good at downloading files.

For the test I stuck a 7.37MB file into the www root directory of both servers and downloaded it via http.

Thanks for your help!

Ian

Are you using Internet Explorer? Try if you get the same result using Firefox or Opera.

Also, I find that when I set the network cards to 100MB/Full Duplex instead of AUTO, I get better results (assuming that they are plugged in to a switch).

Using Firefox makes no fifference and is not an option for us as we are using Quickplace 6.5.4 which needs IE. Oh that we could use it! Actually we can from version 7 of QP which we will install when we feel brave enough!

I think you might be right there Rick.

Doing some testing with IBM revealed that the box is waiting for network IO.

Its a 1GB network card but we are running it at 100MB so I will try your suggestion and report back.

I just posted a very similar topic - http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedweb/c91ccd82e71fec52852570fb0074a6cb?OpenDocument

No question that IIS is much faster than Domino.

Any news on your end?

Thanks.
