If new message *does not* arrive

I would like to use an agent (or other method) to perform the following steps:

Within a mail-in database, if a message is not received within a 30-minute period, the database initiates a notification message to a predetermined address.

Has anyone created anything similar to this?

Thanks,

Charlie

How about using a Database profile document. Have an agent run when any new message arrives and set the current time in the profile doc. Then your other agent can check that field and if it’s more than 30 minutes past the time in the profile doc, take the appropriate action.

I’ve never heard about anything like that but…

What about an agent, scheduled to run at every 30 minutes? The agent must check a “Select @All where flag!=1” view and if there’s documents in there, it just set the field ‘flag’ with the value ‘1’ on it. But, if there’s no documents on the view, it sends an email about it…

think it can do the trick?

Thank you all for your suggestions. All sound viable, and I will look at each method.

Thanks again, and Happy Holidays!

Have you considered using mail probes instead of writing a custom agent?
