Idiot's guide to installing Lotus Notes 8.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.0.4

I don’t know if this is going to be useful to anyone, and even though the information here has just been regurgitated from other sources, I felt the need to share…

Install the eclipse package, using the following command - $ sudo apt-get install eclipse

Download the package C19U2EN.tar from the partner website

In case you haven’t done it already, if you have a fresh install of Ubuntu you will need to enable the root account first. Go into System / Administration / Users and groups. Right click on root, click unlock, then click properties and give the root account a password.

Use these instructions to install- http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd8forum.nsf/0/a35a70e0cb131b65852574420077ecb3?OpenDocument

You may get a security warning (or not, depending on how quickly the hardy distro includes updated eclipse files) In your home directory (Places/Home folder) open the .mozilla folder (which is hidden, you may need to unhide it- View/Show hidden files) and create a folder called eclipse.

That should be it. Hope this helps someone.
