We are currently planning an upgrade from 7.0.3 → 8.5.2. If we upgrade Domino can we configure ID Vault and a security policy prior to the roll out of the Notes 8.5.2 client? What will the 7.0.3 client experience?
If we plan a new Notes 8.5.2 client deployment with notes shared login configured and the ID’s have not yet been vaulted what happens?
Subject: You can enable the vault policy before all the users have upgraded their clients.
You can enable the vault policy before all the users have upgraded their clients. As the users upgrade their clients, the policy will automatically take effect and ID files will be uploaded to the vault.
Your users will not experience anything differently in the 7.03 client. Later, when they are using the 8.52 client, the ID file will be uploaded in the background without user involvement.
NSL-protected IDs can be uploaded to the ID vault just fine, as normal. If NSL is enabled before IDs have been vaulted, then later on, when the NSL-enabled ID is uploaded to the vault, there will be no password associated with the ID in the vault.
If the user needs a password for the vaulted ID file (for example, he loses the ID and needs the password to download a new copy, or needs a password to synchronize the ID file in the vault with one in the mailfile for iNotes/Blackberry/Traveller), the admin must then set a new password on the ID file in the vault. The user can then use that password.
