ID Vault, how does it differ from ID Recovery

Just basically looking for information on ID Vault. We currently have Notes ID Recovery implemented here in our 802 environment and plans are underway for an 8.5+ upgrade. Would like to know how ID Vault differ from ID Recovery? And will we be required to migrate to ID Vault once we upgrade to 8.5? If so, how, does that work? As in ID Recovery, we use separate .nsf per /OU cert; which stores the users safe copy ID; that is used to reset password. Just wondering how this would differ in 8.5 and what are the benefits to moving to ID Vault versus ID Recovery? And/or could we continue to run ID Recovery in 8.5?

Subject: Notes ID vault and ID file recovery are two completely different features

We’ve written a large number of FAQs and posted them the the Notes/Domino wiki: http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/archive?openview&title=Notes%20ID%20Vault&type=cat&cat=null&tag=Notes%20ID%20Vault

To address the specific questions:

And will we be required to migrate to ID Vault once we upgrade to 8.5? We recommend that you upgrade, but there is no requirement to upgrade.

As in ID Recovery, we use separate .nsf per /OU cert; which stores the users safe copy ID; that is used to reset password. You can configure multiple vaults per organization, and assign different users to different vaults by assigning them different security policy settings.

…what are the benefits to moving to ID Vault versus ID Recovery? Please check out some of the wiki entries from the above link.

And/or could we continue to run ID Recovery in 8.5? Yes.

Hope that helps,
