Hi, after a mess with wildcard Certificates on 2 servers, one suddenly came with a error
Server “servername” reported the following problem causing authentication to fail: ICC library could not be found or initialization failed. Please check your configuration.
Subject: That’s the new FIPS 140-2 certified crypto library…
… and if the server can’t find it, you’re going to have a host of problems. I’m not sure what could have stepped on the crypto library, but you can check the server’s domino_icc directory under the program directory. You should see domino_icc\icc\icclib\icclib.dll, domino_icc\icc\osslib\libeay32.dll, and domino_icc\icc\ReadMe.txt. If those files aren’t there or look corrupt, you should copy them over from a functional install of Domino 8.0.1.
Its getting even more complicated. Tried to replace/reinstall Domino, and already at 20% in the setup, the same error occurs The folders where the ICC was placed, are locked, and cannot be removed or deleted, only renamed. (even in safemode) IBM director are also complaining at serverstart. so maybe a 2003 reinstall is the only way out. Looking forward to hear from IBM (or Mulder and Scully) about this!
I can´t imagine, that wildcard cert. have anything to do with this…
That’s a strange one. I can’t imagine why another app would be poaching in our install directory… and one that starts up in a safe-mode reboot as well! Can you see anything else running that might be holding that directory locked?
Dammed, since yesterday I’m having the same problems and this is the only note on the forum about it.
To make it even more difficult: I’ve 10 people that connect to this server one of them came up with this error, when I tried to connect to the server my id seemed to be blocked aswell. The others can still work.
When you look at the props of de osslib dir it comes up with 0 files but when you try to replace the file the server prompts that it could not be replaced because there’s a file with the same name???
Subject: ICC Library error when starting or installing Notes Client
After entering her password, the user would get the following error: “ICC library could not be found or initialization failed. Please check your configuration.”. When I ran a repair install, I received an error that the icc directory could not be created because it already existed and was in use by another process. There was no icc directory in the Notes folder. What I found was an ICC file with no extention. I deleted the file and the install continued until it hit the same error for the xmlschemas directory. I found an xmlschemas file in the Notes folder and deleted it and the install successfully completed. The problem was caused after ManageSoft had triggered an install and since her Notes client was already at v8.0.2, she cancelled the install. That may have corrupted the folder names. I would guess the same problem could happen on the Domino install.
Hi!I did also get the error message “Icc library could not be found or initialization failed”, but I got the message on the notes client after installing v8.5.1. It turned out that the computer did not have Java installed. After installing the latest Java client, the ICC library error was gone
I went through a similar problem. After shutting down Notes 8.5.1 I got a Java error message that I did not pay too much attention to. At next reboot, Notes would reject my (valid) password with no explanation, and only when selecting the option of recovering the password I would get the message “ICC library could not be found or system initialization error”. Based on the previous posting I tried to reinstall the latest Java, but it made no difference. I finally reinstalled Notes 8.5.1 and selected the repair option, and that fixed the problem. Still, it is a mistery why the ICC support got corrupted in the first place.
