Hi,I need to setup a Domino server for a single browser based app, but my managers are looking for the highest availability option. Some sort of clustering I guess.
Straight mail server clusters I can handle, this I think may be a little more difficult.
Load balancing is not a priority, any suggestions for an auto-failover solution would be gratefully received.
ICM seems to be the only option, but isn’t that load balancing? with failover as an incidental since by virtue of flicking between least busy servers it is basically giving you redundancy. Additionally, how does one handle agents set to run on a particular server. If you set “Any Server” aren’t we then in a whole area of possible rep conflicts?
What if your ICM server goes down! have two of those also? The point of failure is simply moved to the ICM?
From what I’ve read so far Windows clustering is unsupported by Domino so that’s out of the window(excuse the pun) also.
Help! any real world experience out there?
We have a home-grown setup on an intranet server which is clustered and then sits there until we lose the live box. At which point we can reconfig our Alteon to redirect IP traffic to the hot-standby. I’m beginning to think this would be a more straightforward setup without the probs I read about ICM. this setup still has the agent running issue and it needs some intervention to get it going.
