Hi:
Scenario:
A user on a MAC client, running version 10.3 of the MAC OS creates an Adobe Illustrator file attachment, for example: “filename.ai”, and e-mails it to a Lotus Notes client. The Notes client’s person document - basics tab - format preference for incoming mail, is set to “Prefers MIME”.
Result:
The file attachment that is received is much larger than the file that was sent. And, the name of the attachment has been altered, adding the file extension .hqx, example: “filename.ai.hqx”. In our test example, an original .ai file attachment that is about 700K, ends up as an .ai.hqx attachment that is 2400K in size.
We tried to open the “filename.ai.hqx” file on a MAC workstation, using Adobe Illustrator and it failed. We then tried to open it using the Stuffit Expander 7.0 utility that comes with the MAC OS – the file appeared to try to unstuff – we received an error message – a randomly named file was created on the desktop that appears to be the data fork of the file, although it may be incomplete.
This problem has happened several times from several senders over the past week or so. We can create the problem on-demand in a test environment.
Anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?
Thank you.
