I developed a database with a rich text field (attachment) with a hide when on opened or previewed for reading. I am trying to turn off this hide and want to apply the change to all old docs. After searching on here, I now realize I shouldn’t have put the hide when on the field itself. But…damage is already done. So is there a way that I can (relatively) easily update all 300+ documents to not ever hide this field?
Thanks,
Jackie

Relatively easy is relative. If you have only very simple rich text, just put a space before the rich text field in the design and it will use the hide-when settings from that paragraph, but it won’t catch multi-paragraph rich text or anything with tables, sections, etc. See Rich Text 101 - Hide-when formulas for a discussion of why (or, for a more humorous approach, read Carrying Concealed, where Mike Midas takes the case).

Yay! Thanks, Ben. That did it. I had seen other places suggesting the space before the field, but it had sounded like that was only if you had the space there from the beginning, so I hadn’t even tried it. And yes, that’s certainly what I’d consider easy :).

…all hide when formulas. Please contact me on the contact information at http://www.vcode.no if interested.
It was used in a case just as yours, to regain all the content when the RTF fields were copied to a new database
