I know this might not be the right place to ask but I couldn’t find another place to go to with my question.
I have registered for this forum and I can use it via browser. I cannot use it with my Notes client, so I used completed the registration process in the database (filling in name and adress and attaching the safe.id). I did this twice already but I still cannot use the forum in my Notes client and I didn’t get any registration notification either.
I myself has repeatedly gone through the registration process (safe ID etc), but without success. I believe it is possibly because my Notes ID Common Name is equal to my web-“ID” common name, but I really don’t know.
The annoying thing is, that if I at least were informed that the ID registration went wrong, and why, I could rectify the situation. But after registering, I’m left with Readers (Default) access.
I have used the feedback form twice, explaining the situation in detail, but have not hear a word about it.
Shame, really. But I guess it is an indication of how important a resource IBM thinks these forums are.
seriously though, I find this strange. Someone should fix this situation! I’ve been replicating with Notes.net for a couple of years now, and find it a much easier way of using this forum. The browser experience in these forums really isn’t great when you’re used to the notes client.
I just had a very friendly mail from a member of the developerWorks team, that informed me that he had looked at my four previous attempts at gaining native Notes access, and that he had “fixed” it.
And sure enough. It works!
This posting was written using a Notes 6.5 client!
I originally typed a comment about Feedback now disappearing within IBM instead of reaching someone who can fix the problem. Then I thought perhaps I was being too cynical, and changed it to “this is how it used to work”. It is a shame.
Just use the feedback --they’ll fix it for you. (I had the same problem after I was finally able to persuade our network yahoos that accessing the forum via Notes wouldn’t burn the building down.)
Absolutely, port 1352 is open. I have Reader access to all the databases. The problem lies in the registration process, a fact that was acknowledged today by IBM, see (this posting was written using a Notes Client).
Stan’s right – this will get your questions/problem directly into the hands of the team (the developerWorks Lotus/LDD/Notes.net team) that runs the Lotus forums. We do read, respond, and try to resolve everything we get.
Also, I sent email directly to Thomas and Morten to try and straighten out their problems.
