Hi,I am trying to develop a system for direct selling business which will form a hierarchy. I am facing problem in linking the customer registration document with their upline registration document to form a hierarchy.
Does anyone has the experience in developing this kind of application system and know how to link the document to form hierarchy?

There is always the Parent/Response/Response-to-Response relationship. This relies on the document’s uniqueIDs, so if the documents could be cut/pasted or whatnot it could get broken. I think this forum uses that relationship for the posts.
Otherwise you can make it yourself with a field on one document that contains the unique identifier for the other document. That could be the docid, some serial number or some other random number that you generate.
Make this field a dropdown that picks its options from a dbcolumn of your IDs. Once you have that number selected, its easy to find the mate. (One way its 'who has this number as its
ID’, the other way its ‘who has my number in their field’.)

We use the ‘one to many’ relationship Brian describes here in most of our databases with categorized views. This works quite well. Also, the child/parent realtionship built on Document ID’s is much harder to troubleshoot than a design that uses your own key. Your own key also allows you much more felxibility and freedom about how you code it.
