What about two buttons, but one is hidden depending on the state (expanded or collapsed)? Would that work for you? Does it have to be only one button, or do you only want one showing at a time?

this is very good idea but how to check the state?

Hi Michael,
Did you get the solution for your problem ?. Here is a solution:
Using the button in view, set a value to a profile field (it should contain a defaule value) and depends upon that field value you can do collapse & expand whaterver you want.
And please note that, Collapse view property should be disabled.
Let me know if you are not clear.
